ABOUT SARRA
I am ever grateful to my asana teachers : Andrey Lappa of Universal Yoga, Nikki Vilella of Kula Yoga Project, to Isaac Pena, Jude English, MaryDana Abbott of Sankalpah Yoga (NYC).
To Raghunath Cappo (NY) and Sadhvi Abha Saraswatiji of Parmarth Niketan Asram (Rishikesh) for their ever inspring immersion into the world of Bhakti.
And to Vaidya Ravi of Poonthttam Ayurvedasram (Kerala) and Dr Naina Mirballi of Ayurvedas World (NYC).
Each of my teachers has forever moved me to eek out seamlessness and sophistication ever present in yoga and its teachings in a way plumes with sincerity.
In classes we will focus on the bridge between the breath, the mind, and the body. We will use the sequence of postures as a means to observe what our biological, mental, and emotional reactions are and determine if they are indeed in line with our highest purpose for practice. We will observe if we are willing to adjust our behaviors on the mat, our posture, the level of intensity of the pose to serve this higher intention. And we will notice, without judgement if we are still working through the parts of our mind that are keeping us trapped in the status quo. Perhaps there are reasons we need to remain there after all. It has been said that if things are always practiced in the same way, the results will always be the same. So, through asana, pranayama, and mindfulness, we will explore our capacity to be flexible from the inside out, and observe where our flexibility becomes rigid. With understanding and patience, freedom follows.
The intention of all this yoga is to nestle closer and closer to the essence of things. This essence eventually becoming stillness and joy.
